The design of the system was carried out by first determining the block diagram structure. The block diagram defined each of the subsystems of the power supply, which allowed them to be treated as separate design problems. The subsystems were divided into two sections: the supply blocks and the control blocks. These sections were then divided into subsystems and each subsystem was then considered the basic unit of design. These subsystems were designed to interface with each other via a data bus and dedicated connections, depending on the function of the connection.
Figure 3 below shows the system block diagram. Each component of this block diagram
will be discussed in detail the proceeding sections.
